Haggen, Fresh & Easy Employees to Connect with Local Employers

Sun Nov 01, 2015 | 06:00am

Current and former Haggen and Fresh & Easy grocery store employees will have the exclusive opportunity to network with local employers on Thursday, November 5, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Workforce Resource Center on E. Ortega Street, announced in a press release. The recruitment event opens to the public from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m, according to a press release from the Santa Barbara County Workforce Development Board.

The event takes place two-and-a-half months after Haggen delivered layoff notices to its Santa Barbara County employees and about one month after the newly expanded chain announced it would close all 5 locations in the county. Grocery chain Fresh & Easy announced last week it was closing all stores, including two locations in Santa Barbara County (one on Milpas St. and one at the Acorn Shopping Center in Santa Maria).

Gelson’s Markets, Lazy Acres Market, and Sears are among the list of employers who will be reviewing résumés, offering interviews, and potentially hiring workers at the recruitment fair.
