Authorities are still looking for the driver who early Tuesday morning crashed a white Honda stolen from the Orcutt area. Around 3:15 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy passed the Honda, which was traveling southbound on Bradley Road toward Clark Avenue at a high speed, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kelly Hoover. Turning westbound on Clark toward Old Orcutt, the Honda evaded the deputy, who had turned the cruiser around.

Shortly before Highway 1, authorities said the Honda crashed into a fire hydrant and slid down a small embankment, prompting the driver to flee on foot. “There was no pursuit,” said Hoover, and “the traffic collision was not observed.” California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to the accident. Deputies and a K-9 team arrived to search the area but didn’t find the driver. Authorities discovered the car was recently stolen from the Orcutt area.
