A gender-neutral restroom opened on Friday at Dos Pueblos High School, the first of its kind in Santa Barbara County. Formerly a girls-only bathroom, the six-stall restroom is open to all students. “I could not be more proud of the Santa Barbara Unified School District!” Assistant Principal Mary Ziegler said in a statement. “I am so glad that Dos Pueblos could be the first school in the SBUSD (Santa Barbara Unified School District) to let our students who are transgender or gender non-conforming know they are important to us, they are seen, and they matter!” The new facility was supported through a partnership with the Santa Barbara Transgender Advocacy Network.
