On 6/5, Alcohol, Drug & Mental Health Services Interim Director Doug Barton made a presentation to county supervisors about the proposed switch of Casa del Mural from a Work Training Program to a Supportive Housing Initiative Act Program. Some residents and advocates have taken issue with the change, worried that help and quality of life will deteriorate for high-needs residents. While supervisors requested more information, Barton said budget cuts necessitate the switch.
