UCSB’s Faculty Legislature voted on 6/7 that students repeatedly taking fewer than 15 class units per quarter could face expulsion. Because half of UCSB students allegedly graduate behind schedule – taking more than four years – the school is losing about $10 million in additional annual funding from the University of California, claim UCSB officials. A standard quarter load is 16 units, or roughly four classes. The new rule takes effect in September 2008.
