Even as the shadow of the Trump Administration’s oil grab looms over the 56th annual celebration of Earth Day in Santa Barbara, there remains much to celebrate in the birthplace of the environmental movement.
In their third annual “Green Guide” magazine, Santa Barbara Independent Editor Marianne Partridge and Vicki Riskin, founder and president of Blue Dot Living publications, highlight a raft of solution-focused folks, non-profits and businesses that, day in and day, are doing real work that makes a difference.
On a special Earth Day episode, Marianne and Vicky return to Newsmakers TV for a conversation with the genial host about what’s inside this year’s issue of their collaborative venture — as well as the outside political threats that pose risks to the climate and a sustainable environment, starting with Trump’s corrupt approval of the Sable Offshore Corp.’s pipeline transport of offshore oil through the county.
The 52-page, well-designed and well-written “Green Guide” represents a joint venture by the two editors, a testament to the passion and commitment they bring to the job of environmental journalism.
