BLACK MAGIC: Indy ad rep Evan Wells loves his pretty kitty. Those who know Wells might not expect him to be the type to administer daily brushings to a velvet-pelted, 18-pound feline. They’d be wrong, as Wells has gladly shared his life with Rudy since October 2005. A cat mutt born in a Humboldt barn in 1998, Rudy carries special emotional significance, as one of Rudy’s previous owners, Chris Lokken, passed away in June 2007 while racing in the Baja 500. Wells credits Lokken and other previous owners with shaping Rudy into what he is today: well-adjusted but nonetheless quirky. “When I play classical music, he stretches out on his back,” Wells explained. “Rudy loves Yo Yo Ma.” Just don’t question Rudy’s diet, which Wells insists is mostly fish-based. “People do ask if I’m feeding him too much, but the doctor says he’s healthy,” Wells said of the gentle behemoth.
