Yahoo!Buellton City Council Member Victoria Pointer has announced her candidacy for 3rd District Supervisor, with budget reform a major component of her decidedly grassroots platform. With 16 years of civic work behind her, Pointer looks forward to a future of unanimity between the North and South, and coexistence between UCSB and the rest of the community.
Pointer’s political zeal landed her a seat as the only female on Buellton’s first City Council in 1992, and led her to carry three terms as mayor. A founding boardmember of Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People, Pointer also served as Board President for four years and has worked for the Santa Barbara County Education Office’s special education department since 1990.
Currently, five people are vying for the supervisor seat that Brooks Firestone will leave vacant at the end of 2008: Doreen Farr, David Smyser, David Bearman and Steve Pappas.

When bigshot land developers from many counties far away sink thousands upon thousands of dollars into the election campaign account for Pointer, will she also just pretend she does not know who her donors are nor why they donated??

Victoria Pointer needs to clearly state is she pro development or pro environment. If she tries the cute trick of claiming to want balance then we'll know she is pro development and just another political hack. Those of you who want to protect the Oaks, the clean air, the Gaviota coast, the rural and agricultural nature of large parts of our county need to support Doreen Farr. She is by far the most committed and the most qualified candidate on those and almost all other issues.

Steve Pappas has my vote for many of the same reasons stated comment above. Pappas wants to protect and preserve the Gaviota Coast and is against high density housing in rural areas. Pappas also believes we should have a casino revenue "fair-share" policy. Enough said!
