Buellton City Council Member Victoria Pointer has announced her candidacy for 3rd District Supervisor, with budget reform a major component of her decidedly grassroots platform. With 16 years of civic work behind her, Pointer looks forward to a future of unanimity between the North and South, and coexistence between UCSB and the rest of the community.

Pointer’s political zeal landed her a seat as the only female on Buellton’s first City Council in 1992, and led her to carry three terms as mayor. A founding boardmember of Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People, Pointer also served as Board President for four years and has worked for the Santa Barbara County Education Office’s special education department since 1990.

Currently, five people are vying for the supervisor seat that Brooks Firestone will leave vacant at the end of 2008: Doreen Farr, David Smyser, David Bearman and Steve Pappas.
