Former Santa Barbara News-Press executive director Paul Veblen died early on 2/21. An editor at the daily for 20 years, Veblen is credited with collaborating with publisher T.M. Storke on the “tar and feathers” editorial lambasting Santa Barbara agents of the John Birch Society that earned the paper a Pulitzer Prize in 1962.
