Terpsikhore; August 2008
Thinks and Feels, the first LP from Arizona group What Laura Says, combines folk, jazz, and a mix of 1950s through 1970s mainstream sounds. The majority of the songs are soft and slow, with a select few having a faster beat. There is only one surprise in “Paradice” (sic), which mixes cabaret and folk, thus creating a truly unique sound. Its melodic choruses are what keep the entire album afloat. As the vocals swing in and out, the group’s harmonies awaken you to a newer, more blissful existence. What Laura Says have made a different sounding album that will surely make any folk music lover smile.
