Law and Disorder 6-11

A body found by passersby on 6/6 at the base of the cliffs of Del Playa Drive in Isla Vista has been identified as 22-year-old UCSB student Noah Krom. Investigators are trying to reconstruct the last 12 hours of Krom’s life in order to determine if he indeed fell from the cliff and why. Sheriff’s spokesperson Drew Sugars said authorities would not be discussing the case with media at this point in the investigation. The deceased is the son of Irvine city councilmember Beth Krom, who is currently campaigning to be the U.S. congressional representative for the state’s 48th District.

County firefighters on 6/9 rescued a 28-year-old Goleta man who, while using his riding lawnmower to trim grass beside La Patera Road, toppled into a creek and fell 60 feet. Rescuers used a system of ropes to pull the victim to safety. He was then taken to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
