Yes on Measure S Raises Over $71,000; Stoker Brings in More than $96,000


The Yes on Measure S campaign raised $71,874, according to the most recent campaign contribution statements covering a three-month period from 7/1 to 9/30. The campaign to build a new North County jail has spent a lot of that, and has $11,269 remaining in the bank. The campaign received $5,000 from the Committee to Reelect Bill Brown and $20,000 from the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association. The County Elections Division had not received a statement from any group opposing Measure S.

Santa Barbara City Councilmember Das Williams, who is running for State Assembly, hadn’t reported as of press time. His opponent, Republican Mike Stoker, brought in $96,179 this period, and has $140,733 on hand. Among his biggest contributors in this latest period was Sam Blakeslee’s campaign, which gave $3,900. He also received money from two of Williams’s counterparts on the City Council, Frank Hotchkiss and Dale Francisco.

In the four-person race for Santa Barbara School Board, Monique Limón raised $11,327, and her spending left her with $2,944. Loren Mason brought in $7,981 and loaned himself $6,000 for a total of $13,981. He spent a lot of that, and had $1,083 left in the bank. Incumbent Kate Parker brought in $850 and loaned herself $1,000. She has $1,224 remaining. The elections office had not received a statement from candidate Dean Nevins.

State Senator Tony Strickland, who is making a run for state controller, brought in more than $750,000 in the latest filing period.
