War of the Wet Noodles

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

It's funny how in the world of politics, "hitting" and "hitting back" involve wasting more money on television ads than a congressional representative's average constituent makes in a year.

In this War of the Wet Noodles, Rove and his Republican rat pack are every bit as innocuous as the limp-biscuit liberal machine Lois depends on to stay in what's euphemistically called power. Neither side's ever going to put an end to our sorry wars, a much-needed universal single-payer health care system remains anathema to both camps, and we'll see a national holiday honoring Vladimir Lenin before publicly-funded elections become a reality. Where, oh where, is our district's white knight? Why, oh why, won't one of our truly progressive public servants step into this meaningless fray?—Jon Williams, Goleta
