City Employees Agree to Salary Concessions

Three Santa Barbara City employee associations have agreed to salary and wage concessions—combined with suspended vacation cash-outs and work furloughs—which combined will save City Hall $1.7 million in the next year. The single biggest savings came from the unrepresented managers and attorneys, fire executives, and police brass who gave up $870,000 in canceled salary increases and furloughs. The supervisors association, which represents 81 of City Hall's frontline and second tier supervisors, yielded $517,000. And the union representing airport and waterfront security officers as well as water treatment workers agreed to concessions worth $740,000 over the years.
