Man Attempts Suicide in Bath Street Home

Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

A man is in critical condition at Cottage Hospital after shooting himself in the head in an apparent suicide attempt, police said.

Officers and medics were dispatched to the 800 block of Bath Street at around 11:30 a.m. this morning. Details of the incident are scarce at the moment, and the man’s identity has not yet been released.

Sgt. Jill Beecher with the Santa Barbara Police Department said the man was semi-conscious when authorities arrived. It’s believed members of his family were present within the home when shooting took place.
