Black Bear Spotted

Residents Report Sightings Around Sycamore Canyon Road and Cold Springs Road

A black bear was spotted by several residents Friday morning in the area of Sycamore Canyon Road and Cold Springs Road. The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department, said a spokesperson, is working with the California Department of Fish and Game to locate the bear.

“We are asking if you see a bear or any potentially dangerous wild animal to call the Sheriff’s Department,” said the spokesperson. The number is (805) 681-4100. “Do not attempt to scare the animal or frighten it away. If left alone, these animals usually leave the area on their own.”

Cold Springs school has been notified of the sightings, said the spokesperson, and will take appropriate actions to make sure students are safe.
