Doing the Opposite

Just want to thank you, the Santa Barbara Independent, for helping me decide who to vote for this year and in each election cycle. Although I’m positive about which way you will swing, I still look forward to see what you have to say. Because looking at your paper’s endorsements makes my job of voting that much easier. You see, whichever candidates or propositions The Independent endorses, yes or no votes, all I have to do is vote the opposite. Yep, that’s right. It’s quite a formidable community service you do for me, and I really do appreciate it. I mean who else can I depend on to be so consistent? As my father use to say when he would deliver products out to Isla Vista (in the 1960s and ‘70s), whenever he would see a political sign on a telephone pole or whatever, he would know who not to vote for. Thanks, dad, for the lesson in life. And again, thank you Independent for helping me out with this year’s voting decisions. I’m definitely voting a straight Republican ticket. Oops, is it okay to say straight?
