Santa Barbara Sheriff’s investigators are trying to track down two suspects — a man and a woman believed to be from Ventura — who outran deputies Tuesday morning. According to Sheriff’s spokesperson Kelly Hoover, a deputy spotted the vehicle — which had paper license plates and a cracked window, and was reported stolen from Santa Paula — parked outside the 7-Eleven on Via Real in Carpinteria at around 12:30 a.m. As the car drove from the parking lot, the deputy tried to pull it over by turning on his emergency lights. The driver sped on, however, and headed southbound on Highway 101, eventually exiting at Linden Avenue.

At that point the suspect driver stopped the car, and the couple ran out on foot into the nearby neighborhood, said Hoover. Sheriff’s deputies, CHP officers, and a K9 unit set up a perimeter to look for the suspects, and Reverse 911 calls were put out to residents, but the pair couldn’t be located. “Detectives are actively working the case,” said Hoover in a statement. “If you have any information that may assist with the investigation, you are asked to call the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office sub-station in Carpinteria at (805) 684-5405 x424.”

I'm confused... The exit/entrance at the 7/11 on Via Real only goes northbound.

Did they drive all the way down Via Real, then across Santa Ynez down to Carp Ave and then get on the freeway over there?

LoonPt is indeed correct, yet nowhere does it say the suspects entered the freeway in the wrong direction..

Exactly what I was wondering. Why would you take the trouble to work your way onto the freeway at Carp Ave only to take the very next exit and bail? Maybe the thought was to lose the cops by swerving onto the fwy instead of taking a straight shot down Carp Ave, but if you know the area decently as it seems they may, why not go left into the neighborhood instead? Whatever they did seemed to have worked.

The article and none of the reports mention Carp ave...
The question is how they enter the 101 at Via Real (7-11- Old Carrows) and exit on Linden? Did they u-turn at Santa Claus?
