Novacoast brings threat detection to Apple App Store with 4Shadow

Simple Security App Makes Mobile and Remote Work Safer

Novacoast Development Labs is excited to announce the launch of 4Shadow, a lightweight network intrusion detection system for OSX, available now in the Apple App Store.

Developed in cooperation with the Novacoast Security Team, 4Shadow provides an at-a-glance snapshot of network security for any mac workstation. It was created to improve the security posture or remote workers and for anyone who often uses public networks such as at coffee shops, hotels, airports, and universities.

“We do so much work in security, it made sense to build a solution to bolster workstation safety,” said Novacoast Vice President of Development Eron Howard. “While 4Shadow isn’t a replacement for a security solution, it allows individuals to keep an eye on their vulnerability moment-to-moment. In the market, that’s pretty unique.”

The app notifies users of remote login and authentication attempts, man-in-the-middle attacks, port scanning, privilege escalations and system misconfigurations. Designed to be simple, low-space and light-running, 4Shadow introduces a new level of security to corporate and personal devices running OSX.
