Judge George Eskin announced that he’ll be resigning from the bench after serving 10 years. Eskin sent a note to his colleagues explaining that the recent death of Judge Ed Bullard in North County coupled with the birth of a granddaughter highlighted for him the shortness of time. Eskin, one of the few judges handling a criminal caseload, has not yet submitted his resignation papers and said he’d like to step down in October. Eskin’s resignation and Bullard’s death create two vacancies on the bench. In addition, Judge Frank Ochoa’s tenure remains questionable; Ochoa has been seeking an appointment to the appellate court and is considered — at least according to the courthouse rumor mill — a very strong contender. If appointed, Ochoa would be the first Santa Barbara judge to ever secure an appellate post.

Independent Discussion Guidelines

Ochoa on the Appellate Bench? Are you serious? He can't even maintain his calendar in SB or issue rulings without reading the lips of the Assistant D.A.'s before him. His wildly inconsistent sentences, pandering to Dudley and her girls, and transparent inability to stay awake or to even show up in the courtroom on time (if it isn't his wife disappearing or his vacation days or picking up his kids from school, it's Fiesta duties) will really go over well at the appellate level.
Another joke in SB courts!

Can't speak about him personally but that entire system is beyond corrupt.

You sound like you know what you are talking about Beachgirl. Your posts are right on and to the point. Please continue to try to enlighten the public. It's very refreshing to hear an honest assessment of that joke of a system.

The appellate court is not a place for any employee of the Santa Barbara legal syndicate - I mean "community"

What was George Eskin's very first Clerk's name? She was married to a retired SBCSD Deputy. Do you know why she left? Do you know what Judge Eskin did to cause her to leave? Do you know how many MILLIONS of your tax dollars she may have left with after the allegedly very quiet out of court settlement?
I've heard some very interesting things but since I haven't had a chance to verify them, I'm simply asking around at this point. So, what have YOU heard?
