In over 30 years of living in the Santa Barbara area we’ve witnessed few City Council candidates who understand the needs of neighborhoods as well as Lesley Wiscomb. Lesley stands for keeping neighborhoods to a humane size. Some candidates use fancy code words to dress up projects that bring dangerous density to existing neighborhoods. Keep Santa Barbara’s neighborhoods friendly, and vote for Lesley Wiscomb.

Yawn. The angry lady scares me and the children.

A humane size? A neighborhood can neither be bigger nor smaller than the geographical space it is situated in. I'm afraid it's quite out of the hands of the City Council.

I love the glow of the "I've got mine" attitude of the so-called "preservationists" like Wiscomb, Dale Francisco, and Sheila Lodge. And their corollary that the city must be protected at all costs to keep the tourists coming.

Now we have 20,000 workers commuting daily from outside SB/Goleta and an average of 25,000 tourists visiting the south coast per day (70% drive to get here):

While this has been going on, the city's population has remained fairly stable for decades.

For those looking for a scapegoat to explain their perceptions of overcrowding, it may not actually be the developers threatening your neighborhood after all.
