I agree with rebeccawave that the plans should at be scaled back. The Garden was not intended to be a locale for gatherings such as are held at the Child's Estate or outdoors at the Museum of Natural History. Any gathering of a size really dispels the serenity of the Botanic Garden. It is a magical place, and should be handled with such care. Move the archives and educational offerings off-site for so many reasons. By the way my first introduction to the Garden was as a five-year old - I'm a native of SB - viewing it with my parents and great-grand parents.

Ms. Variano just might have a case here. Recent light shown on the District's Special Education program proves that something has been very wrong. I'd like to see how this all plays out, especially since Ms. Variano appeared to run a great program in these very difficult times for our schools - too much micro-managing from the top down.
