This is extremely troubling. David Attias killed three innocent students, devastating families and lives with far-reaching effects that are far from over. The fact that people would even risk releasing him into society shows they are irresponsible, as were his parents. What were his parents thinking allowing him to be on his own at UCSB and giving him a fast, powerful car with a history like his? And now the family and his "supervisors" are thinking of doing it again, giving him more freedom than he can handle with just a hope that it will all turn out.
Also, I wonder if he would be accorded this opportunity if his parents were not wealthy and somewhat famous.
I sincerely hope saner, more cautious minds prevail. Actually I will be very angry and sad if they turn him loose on an unsuspecting community after what he has done. Sometimes people are just broken and dangerous. Given that he has consistently gotten into trouble at Patton, I can't even imagine why they would think this is a good idea.
