It's ironic the regulated system has such poor service and lousy passenger conditions and the 'un-regulated' is clean and efficient. Instant public ratings feedback are a powerful thing, just as 'Amazon', 'Yelp', Google+, etc. have proven.
If the rude and maniacal taxi drivers changed affiliations to Uber I wonder how long they'd last....

The only time $229 is reasonable in Goleta is during UCSB events when there just aren't enough rooms to go around. Example: Hampton Inn for $300/nt anybody? (current rate for grad weekend) Outrageous.
Aside from that, I don't see your typical tourist, or even business exec staying for that minimum rate.

Tried this for the first time the other day. Not bad. The CB&J (cheeseburger and apricot/jalapeno jelly) was tasty, helped by a great Shalhoob patty & Daily Bread ciabatta roll.
The yam fries...not so hot. They just weren't crispy and are easily out done by the Elephant Bar's sweet potato fries.
Also, a few sets of folding chairs and tables would be a great touch for the patrons.

It's not about base salaries, it's about the "built-in" OT hours that throw the budget off. The real $$ amount of compensation to our officers isn't anywhere near the base salaries used in the above-mentioned comparisons.
I'm sure the Snooze-Press has no idea what I'm talking about.
