Hey Barney...Can you possibly make it any more obvious that you don't like Caruso?.

El Encanto certainly deserves praise (and tons of it), but you should not use that same paragraph to disparage Caruso.

Here's Reality ....

Caruso takes his money and runs, leaving a cluttered dump of empty beer bottles, cockroaches, rats and other vermin. At least the homeless, drug users and vandals can return to the place they call home.

Warner stripped the property of trees. Shrager let the buildings crumble and become termite infested.

BTW, anyone who wants a nostalgic, termite and dry-rot infested, blue roofed cottage for free - I'm sure Caruso will give you one.

Have fun with that Montecito.

FYI - Wynn won't do any project that does not involve a casino. He makes too much money in Macau & Vegas to go through that assinine process with your city.

Marriott - doesn't build those kinds of boutique properties. Go view on of their resorts and let me know what you think of the "size and scale"

On The End of Caruso's Miramar?

Is there no one in montecito area with enough money to resurrect the bones of the old Miramar? From my experience in the industry... one could completely reconstruct the property with an updated version of the old land usage. The number of keys would need to increase and obvious amenities would need to be added (pool, spa, etc.), but the overall size and scope of the project could be kept very similar to what had been there for years.
At the point, the land is probably too expensive for anyone to go that route...but it certainly would nice to see the property returned to a similar (though more modern) state of simple, yet elegant coastal-community grandeur.

...along with the EIR that supports the project (available on the county planning website) and answers concerns pertaining to the drainage & flooding.

It's amazing that this continues on. I was at earlier planning meetings and do not believe Caruso has the patience to deal with this much longer. I bet we just get to keep our garbage dump named Miramar.
