Individual vineyard owners have been verbally abusive to neighbors in the past. Threats have been made and that intimidation is a bit hard to deal with. Those folks are fearful and do not want to step forward.
In my case our vineyard/neighbor's owner threatened to call the county and complain about the chickens on our property .\making noise and causing parasites .... found that kind of interesting - he is a city guy ya know. I have written a letter to the editor and will do so again. While I have not been able to attend in person. I have submitted concerns.
I still do not have answers to one of my big concerns. Between 2000 and 2010 there were over 20 accidents at the intersecion of Hwy 154/Roblar/Refugio, but only 12 are listed in the county's traffic study in docs re the Vincent Winery proposal (due for Board hearing on 2-5-13....curious me????

We have a great discusssion going. Wednesday the winery next door was approved by the Planning Commission.
Sad, but true. Right off of Highway 154..... it is scary to drive the intersection on any given day. Adding the winery is creating a perfect storm for a potential for death and mayhem

Thank you Independent for publishing my letter. Yesterday the owner of the property next door's application to have a wine factory, wine tasting, wine store, events,... was approved by a 5 to 2 vote of the Planning Commission.
Sigh ..... it may be appealed to the Board of Supervisors. It costs $643 to appeal and I, personally do not have the $s.
I will be at the first meeting of the Winery Ordinance Update process on 11/27. This is an important issue'
Again thanks for getting the word out!
