Apparently it is not Gentle Giant Mike Brown ... http://www.snopes.com/politics/crime/....
You could have checked it out yourself ... instead you would allow the misrepresentation to stand and, at the same time, give yourself an out if it is proved false because It apparently does show black-on-black violence. From the video it would appear the anger was warranted - the victim was accused of stealing the larger man's backpack.

Good to see St. Marks participating ... I spent the better part of a year overnighting in their parking lot through the Safe Parking program while I set up the Angler Center on Goleta Pier. Without that guarantee of a night parking spot I wouldn't have been able to do the volunteer work that I did.

That's just the point ... it is a big deal to get a copy of your birth certificate let alone a passport. Why is it being suggested when there is no evidence of significant voter fraud nor of non-citizens voting?
Can't you see that this is just putting additional obstacles in the way of people exercising their right to vote. Like all the restrictions used in the South to keep down the black vote.
New requirements usually address new conditions but what has changed that requires we tighten up the registration/voting process? Having to share the vote with an increasing minority population ...is that it?

Did you have to produce a passport or birth certificate to vote? I don't remember having to do so. It's a wonder that there isn't more voter fraud with such lax requirements - right?

It's one thing to stay safely in your own camp speaking to people like yourself but those, like these two gentlemen, who build bridges between communities do the really hard work. More power to them.

Are revetments and seawalls the same thing? ... I thought that issue was already settled. It's clear that the revetments work - the beach may come and go but the park remains.
I think it comes down to where your priorities lie ... with the beach (sand) and ecological purity or with the Park (lawn and tables) and the people who use it.
If the protection of beachfront property owned by the 1% warrants the use of revetments then so does that beachfront property owned by the rest of us.
And to those building their careers on 'managed retreat' fie on you ... we do not consent to your proposed use of Goleta Beach as a lab experiment. How about you suggesting removing the rocks protecting UCSB's beachside facilities instead?

Graphic depictions? Sure and let's start with pictures of the maimed and mangled young civilian victims of our undeclared wars and illegal invasions - and post them outside all the recruiting offices and campus ROTC offices for prospective volunteers to see as a form of full disclosure. Perhaps it will promote a long overdue conversation.
