I am outraged that of all the possible things to cut, they are cutting In-Home Supportive Services!!!
Thank you for writing this article which sheds light on this awful situation, and I hope it gets changed. You write very clearly and persuasively.
I wonder if it would help to send copies to Able Maldonado, and whoever else represents this area. They should be ashamed of themselves.

The opposition fans fear of fire and traffic to create a smoke screen. Actually the Garden had over 200,000 visitors per year in the late eighties when there was free admission, and there were no problems. (To put this is perspective the Museum of Natural History has over over 300,000 visitors a year with no problems.) However, the Garden's Plan will set a visitor limit well under the historic highs. So if you're concerned about traffic and numbers of visitors you should support the Plan. Concern about visitors and traffic is actually an argument FOR the Plan!
The firemen said that the hydrant the Garden already put in helped them save Mission Canyon from even worse destruction in the Jesusita Fire. The Fire Department says the Plan will INCREASE FIRE SAFETY because of new fire hydrants, a new turnaround for firetrucks, sprinklers, more fire-safe buildings, and the complete closure of the Garden on high fire days. So fire safety is an argument FOR the Garden's plan!
