Actually, for the bottle you bring, ANY Alsatian-category white wine you want to bring to the party is acceptable. The point of these BYOB tastings has always been to gather as wide a sampling as possible -- that way we all learn (and enjoy) to the max. It's an unbeatable way to find out which products you want to buy (and which to avoid), according to your personal palate. You'll see bottles you'd never encounter otherwise -- whether from a wine shop you weren't aware of, or from somebody's collection that hasn't been on a store shelf in years. All of it gives you perspective on the range of flavors possible within this month's category. This month, I'm bringing a Siegerrebe from British Columbia, a cross between Gewurztraminer and Madeleine Angevine (look it up ... and come sample on Sunday!).
