<em>Alpha Dog</em> Finds an Audience in SB

, the Nick Cassavetes film that fictionalizes crimes
that occurred locally, premiered this weekend to packed movie
houses in Santa Barbara despite middling box office success
nationwide and lukewarm reviews. A Metropolitan Cinema
representative declined to give exact figures, but said the drama
based on Jesse James Hollywood did “very well” and played to
capacity at the Metropolitan 4 cineplex. The weekend’s top grosser
was Stomp the
Yard
, which also debuted on Friday. Alpha Dog
earned $6.14 million over the weekend, making it the seventh
highest moneymaker.
