The California Coastal Commission (CCC) will launch a summer story contest to motivate citizens to care for their coasts. In conjunction with the contest, the CCC has begun an online program, the Coastal Stewardship Pledge, to encourage individuals to reflect on the impact their daily activities have on the coast. From now until August 1, the Commission calls for submissions of stories and photos to capture the unique avenues people explore as coastal stewards. They hope to discover unique and inspirational stories of Californians protecting or caring for the coastal habitats.

Entries will be posted on the Commission’s website, and in September the entry selected by the public will receive a “Coast Lover’s Prize Package”. This Package will include a framed Coastal Clean-up poster with art by Christopher Wormell. Submissions can be made through email.

The California Coastal Commission was established in 1972 to provide protection for the 1,100 miles of California’s coast.
