The Skinny: Created in 2004, The Snobs describe their sound as “pop music in wolf’s clothing,” but aren’t afraid to claim punk, jazz, rock, and even show tunes as influences. Their self-titled debut EP should be purchased if only to read the hilarious inside jacket that explains the circumstances under which the songs should be played. “Vacation” is for meeting your wife’s family for the first time; “Boots,” for when you “absolutely, positively have to hit an Indian casino”; or “Stop Lyin’ to Me,” because “Sometimes, when you have a hard time explaining yourself, you drink.” See snobsspace.com.

Upcoming Shows: Wednesday, June 27, at SOhO, with Carpinteria’s Strange Bird. $5.
