Wine, Wine, Wine Went the Trolley
Drinking and driving is a no-no, but drinking and riding can be fun, especially when you get to zip about Santa Barbara on the Downtown Wine Trolley Tour, Sunday, July 8, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sure it’s great fun to head over to the gorgeous, winery-dappled valley, but for convenience it’s hard to beat the transportation Meet Me in St. Louis made famous. (Okay, this trolley isn’t on tracks, but you aren’t Judy Garland, either, so let’s call it even for the world isn’t fair.) The tour takes in five fine wineries-Carr Vineyards and Winery, Jaffurs Wine Cellars, Margerum Wine Company, Oreana Wine Company (Cellar205), and Santa Barbara Winery. I’d walk about town to have Jaffurs’s tongue-staining petite syrah and Margerum’s Ch•teauneuf-du-Pape priced-for-the-masses M5. Plus there’ll be “gourmet nibbles,” which I assume means snacks and not that chefs will gnaw on you. Sign up fast-this is limited to 300 lucky wine lovers. Tickets are $50. Buy tickets online at sbwinery.com or call 963-3633.
