The driver of a Nissan pickup truck rear-ended a slower-moving tanker truck in the southbound lanes of U.S. 101 near Highway 154 at approximately 4:50 a.m. on 8/28. The Nissan driver, a 23-year-old Salinas man, was killed in the crash. The police investigation concluded that the crash was a suicidal act by the driver of the Nissan.
