Ad Campaign Raises Eyebrows

After fielding numerous complaints against its racy “Flat Buns” commercial, Carl’s Jr.-which is owned by Carpinteria-based CKE Restaurants-has re-edited the commercial to omit a sexy, dancing teacher touting the chain’s new patty melt sandwich. The commercial still features high school students rapping about their love of “flat buns”-a double entendre referring to the patty melt having sliced bread instead of the usual hamburger buns.
