Santa Barbara Zoo Breaks Ground for New Exhibit

Thu Oct 11, 2007 | 06:00am

The Santa Barbara Zoo broke ground on 10/11 for its biggest-ever expansion, which will feature-among other things-a 6,000-square-foot California condor exhibit. The condor cage will house six condors, North America’s largest birds. The project, known as California Trails, will cost $6 million and was partially underwritten by Lady Leslie Ridley-Tree, the Drier family, and the Santa Ynez Chumash. The new exhibit should be open next fall.
