Santa Barbara is among the four California counties reaping the benefits of a $767,000 settlement with drugstore giant Walgreens over allegations that malfunctioning cash registers illegally overcharged customers. Henceforth, Walgreens-which admitted no guilt in the matter-must also pay up to $4 to customers who note future overcharges.
