UCSB Employee Killed In Avalanche

Morgan Cowles, 39, Santa Barbara resident and employee of UCSB’s Davidson Library, was killed by an avalanche at Sequoia National Park. Cowles and another man were reported missing on 1/28, and rescuers found his body at the base of an avalanche chute the following day. Cowles’s death marks the first avalanche-related fatality at the park in 10 years.
