• The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation has launched a national appeal for a nuclear-weapons free world with a petition that you can sign on its Web site, wagingpeace.org. The Foundation plans to deliver the appeal to the next President in January 2009.

• Do you enjoy reading to children? If you can commit to two hours a week, you can become a Reach Out and Read Storytimer. There are opportunities available in Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. • The Foodbank of Santa Barbara needs volunteers for sorting, organizing, and repacking food donations. You should be able to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
