From now through August, every Friday is “Bean Friday” at the Borders in Santa Barbara (900 State St.) or Goleta (Camino Real Marketplace). Stop by and purchase a bag of Seattle’s Best coffee, get a medium drink for free, and help send coffee to our troops aboard the USS Ronald Reagan.

The Devereux Slough Monitoring Program, regarded as one of the top bird watching locations in the California, is seeking volunteers and interns for its programs that help educate the community and collect field data. Goleta Valley Beautiful has many volunteer opportunities for people interested in helping with tree-planting and tree maintenance. Every Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon or from 1-4 p.m., different sites in Goleta will be attended to.
