• Help Goleta Valley Beautiful in its Greenhouse Tree Nursery Care efforts on Saturday, August 9, from 9 a.m.-noon. Volunteers will get a hands-on learning experience that includes mixing soil, repotting, irrigation repair, and general greenhouse maintenance. Meet at the Devereux campus (6980 Falberg Dr.). • Make your trip to the beach more meaningful! Become a Snowy Plover Docent at Coal Oil Point Preserve and help protect the Western snowy plover, an endangered shorebird.
