• Get rid of E-waste the right way by diverting it from the landfills to a proper recycling process. Donate any consumer electronic equipment that has reached its end of usage to the Electronic Waste Event on Friday, August 8, and Saturday, August 9, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Sears parking lot (3845 State St.). • Help Goleta Valley Beautiful in its Greenhouse Tree Nursery Care efforts on Saturday, August 9, from 9 a.m.-noon. Volunteers will get a hands-on learning experience that includes mixing soil, repotting, irrigation repair, and general greenhouse maintenance. Meet at the Devereux campus (6980 Falberg Dr.). • Make your trip to the beach more meaningful! Become a Snowy Plover Docent at Coal Oil Point Preserve and help protect the Western snowy plover, an endangered shorebird.
