Facing an 8/30 deadline to replace kitchen and bath facilities for farmworkers living onsite, Fairview Gardens is hurriedly getting things squared away. Tynes Viar, the director of sustainability and development, said that the work will get done, despite tight finances. Bringing the facilities online with the municipal sewer is scheduled for completion within the next year, and replacement of the yurts and trailers workers live in with permanent structures within the next five. The Goleta Planning Commission voted unanimously to continue the matter of Citrus Village, the condominium development proposed for 7388 Calle Real, until 9/8, citing potential conflicts. Community members weighed in as well, objecting to parking issues and the size of the units in comparison to the homes in the adjacent El Encanto Heights. Planning Director Steve Chase stood by his recommendation, saying the project is consistent with Goleta’s General Plan. (/citrusvillage)
