Health 9-4

A crow has tested positive for the West Nile virus, the Department of Public Health announced on 8/28. This being the first evidence this year that West Nile is active in Santa Barbara County, health officials encouraged people to take all possible precautions against mosquito bites, which are the most common means of disease transmission. The last instance of human infection in the county occurred in 2006. (/westnile)
