Former 3rd District supervisor candidate Dr. David Bearman endorsed Steve Pappas in the 11/4 runoff election for the position. Bearman received 1,472 of the votes, and may help Pappas in Isla Vista and at UCSB, where Pappas struggled. Vandenberg Air Force Base launched a modified Minuteman ballistic missile on 9/23 as part of a Missile Defense Agency effort to better intercept hostile missile attacks. A Near Field Infared Experiment satellite examined the Vandenberg-launched projectile’s plume so strategists can better understand its characteristics and, in the long run, more quickly identify and eliminate airborne threats.
