The Palabra Program, part of the Collaborative Communities Foundation, recruits youth ages 12-22 years old which congregate on the streets and enrolls them into a comprehensive program. The program emphasizes self-efficacy in problem-solving, primarily by providing significant practice in addressing issues and problems relating to high-risk factors for gang involvement, crime, substance abuse, and related problems. Additionally, the program focuses on leadership development by providing youth with an opportunity to give back to their neighborhood through community activity projects, expression through art projects, leadership workshops, and community organizing. Further, the program offers opportunities for social development through recreational actives, outings, field trips, special events, and cultural events. The Young Men’s Palabra Group and Young Women’s Palabra Group meet weekly at various locations and times. For a detailed meeting schedule, please call 845-4638 or visit ccfsite.org.
