Tea Fire Remained Calm Last Night

It’s been apparent to many Santa Barbara and Montecito residents, but a press conference this morning has confirmed that the Tea Fire, in fact, did not gain significant ground last night. No areas were added to the list of areas needing to evacuate. Speaking to reporters, Sheriff Bill Brown said that firefighters and other emergency crews are in the process of switching from fire repression toward fire recovery. A full report on the conference, which included an address by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and a tour of especially fire-ravaged areas, will come from Indy reporter Chris Meagher and will be available online shortly.
