Tea Fire Flood Evacuation Order Lifted
Areas Affected by the Fire Are Now on Evacuation Warning Status as Storm Slows
At 12:30 p.m. today, officials from the City and County of Santa Barbara lifted the mandatory evacuation order that had been in place for areas affected by the Tea Fire due to fears that the current rains would trigger mudslides in the loose, fire-scarred soil. That order has now been reduced to an evacuation warning, meaning that residents can return to their homes but must remain vigilant in the event that the storm kicks up again. The warning is scheduled to remain in place until 10 p.m. tonight, November 26.
The area affected by the warning include, in the County of Santa Barbara, Gibraltar Road from El Cielito to East Camino Cielo, including the Mount Calvary Road burn area, as well as Chelham Way along Westmont Creek and Chelham Creek. And in the City of Santa Barbara, the warning affects Sycamore Canyon north from APS/Montecito Street to Stanwood Drive, Stanwood west to El Cielito, Conejo Road from Stanwood to Las Alturas, and Conejo Lane, Camino Alto, Orizaba Lane, Orizaba Road, Sherman Road, Eland Place, and Mountain Drive east of El Cielito.
