Sheriff Investigate Goleta Bank Robberies
Says Two January 16 Hold-Ups Were Committed by Same Man
The Santa Barbara Sheriff released photos taken at two January 16 bank robberies in Goleta that may have been committed by the same man.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, a man entered the Los Padres Bank at 197 N. Fairview Ave., displayed a handgun and demanded money from the tellers. After receiving an undisclosed amount, he fled north on foot. Then, just before 6 p.m., a man entered the Santa Barbara Bank & Trust office at the Camino Real Marketplace. Displayed a handgun and demanded money. He also fled on foot.
Witnesses to the first incident described the robber as a 5-foot, 8-inch-tall man weighing 180 lbs., with gray hair and in a black shirt, jeans, and a ski mask. Witnesses to the second incident described the suspect as a 5-foot, 10-inch-tall man weighing 210 lbs. and in a dark shirt, jeans, ski mask, and baseball cap.
