Montecito residents Stephen and Toni Haselton last week donated $3 million to the campaign to rebuild Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, bringing the total funds given to the effort to more than $100 million. The couple had previously donated more than $5.5 million to Cottage. (/cottage129)

A Vandenberg Air Force Base medical team this week concluded a four-day exercise intended to test the group’s response to chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear attacks on the base. The 30th Medical Group’s training included a simulated attack that included a scenario with 100 affected patients in various stages of injury.

A new set of ambulances joined the county’s American Medical Response (AMR) fleet this week. Three new “Sprinter” ambulances boast better gas mileage, more headroom for workers, and a “streamlined appearance,” said Dave Schierman, operations manager for AMR, which has been the county’s emergency medical response provider for 30 years.
